Usually, you shouldn’t. The right time to look at HELI is when a lease is ending, when trucks are due for replacement, or when one area of the building is costing you more than the rest: a crowded battery room, a reach truck that can’t keep up with the racking, a dock that backs up every afternoon. Start with that one area. There is no need to change the whole fleet to find out if it works.
Lithium changed the class. A lithium truck is not a lead acid truck with a different battery. The frame, the controller and the charging are designed around it, and most of that shift happened in the last five years. A comparison you made before then will not hold today.
The HELI authorized dealer nearest you handles the order and the install. We hold the inventory behind him. 17,000 part numbers, and parts ordered by 3pm Monday to Thursday ships the same day. Friday orders ship early on Monday.
Most operations start with one electric pallet truck at the dock, where loads move all day and the current equipment is the daily irritation. It is the easiest machine to judge, because the operators will tell you within a week.
From there, the usual next step is a three-wheeler for tight aisles, or a reach truck in the racking. By then your team has run the equipment on your own floor, and the next fleet decision is based on what they saw, not on a spec sheet.
